The Engineering Lead for Machine Learning will lead and mentor teams in building scalable AI systems, drive technical strategy for AI model development, and foster collaboration between ML and Software Engineers.
Responsibilities
• Lead and mentor teams of ML Engineers in building scalable AI systems that combine state-of-the-art models with robust engineering practices.
• Drive technical strategy for AI model development, deployment, and monitoring across both predictive modeling and NLP domains.
• Foster collaboration between ML Engineers and Software Engineers, creating an environment where both disciplines can thrive and learn from each other.
• Partner with product teams to translate business requirements into technically sound AI platform level solutions.
• Champion best practices in AI development, including model evaluation, testing, and responsible AI principles.
• Oversee the evolution of our AI platform (signals, recommendations, AI trust and NLP models) to support increasingly complex compound AI systems.
• Build trusted relationships across HubSpot's AI organizations, ensuring alignment and knowledge sharing.
Skills
• 3+ years of engineering management experience, with at least 2 years leading teams building production ML/AI systems
• Deep understanding of both ML/AI concepts and software engineering best practices
• Experience managing diverse technical teams, including both ML Engineers and Software Engineers
• Experience with modern AI architectures, including LLMs, recommendation systems, retrieval systems
• Passionate about fostering technical growth in others and can provide meaningful feedback on both ML and engineering work
• Track record of collaborating with product teams to deliver customer value through AI capabilities
