Responsibilities
- Design, train, and deploy ML models for traffic prediction, routing, and congestion detection
- Analyze large-scale geospatial datasets from GPS, connected vehicles, and public traffic sources
- Develop map-matching, road segmentation, and anomaly detection algorithms
- Build scalable data pipelines for spatial and temporal data ingestion and cleaning
- Optimize model performance and accuracy through experimentation and feature engineering
- Partner with product and engineering teams to integrate models into mapping and analytics systems
- Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master’s in Data Science, Computer Science, Transportation Engineering, or related field
- Experience in applied machine learning or data science
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Hands-on experience with ML frameworks (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow)
- Experience working with geospatial libraries (GeoPandas, Shapely, GDAL) and spatial databases (PostGIS, BigQuery GIS)
- Solid understanding of spatial statistics, time-series modeling, and routing algorithms
- Familiarity with distributed data tools (Spark, Databricks) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Ability to translate ambiguous research questions into structured analytical approaches
- Strong technical writing and communications skills
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with traffic simulations (SUMO, MATSim) or transportation optimization
- Background in navigation, mobility platforms, or smart city analytics
- Familiarity with visualization and mapping tools (Kepler.gl, Deck.gl, Mapbox, Power BI)
- Experience operationalizing ML models in production environments
- Strong machine learning and analytical skills
- Curiosity about how real-world movement can be modeled and predicted
- Clear communication and an ability to deliver actionable insights
