Your Mission
Imagine you could translate your skills in generative AI and your boundless creativity into real materials and revolutionize the world of polymers. In the Digital R&D (DRD) department, we develop generative AI models that discover bio-inspired polymers and create sustainable materials of the future. We combine Computational Chemistry, Materials Simulation, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and High Performance Computing to radically accelerate research processes.

For full-time employment, you can expect an attractive starting salary between €77,600/year and €93,900/year plus a variable component. The starting salary depends on your qualifications and professional experience. See below for everything else you can expect at Covestro!
Your Tasks – from Research to Impact
- You develop and apply Generative AI methods to generate novel polymer structures and predict their properties, thus solving inverse design problems for innovative, bio-inspired polymers
- You integrate simulated material data and experimental results into advanced AI frameworks to strengthen predictive and generative capabilities
- You work closely with simulation experts, data scientists, and experimental research teams, driving digital R&D workflows forward
- You communicate complex AI concepts clearly – even to non-AI experts
- You identify new technologies and potential research partners and prepare collaborations
Your Profile – Must-Haves
- You have successfully completed a PhD in physics, chemistry, computer science, or a comparable, relevant field of study
- You have proven experience in research and application of generative AI models in materials – ideally demonstrated through publications, code repositories or projects
- You program very well in Python and work routinely with relevant AI frameworks
- You enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams and ideally have had initial touchpoints with Computational Chemistry and Cheminformatics
- You have fluent English skills in speaking and writing (international collaboration)
Nice-to-Have (trainable with us)
- A background in Cheminformatics or Computational Chemistry and knowledge in digital representations of molecules and polymers
