Role overview
Mission
Joining Vizzia means becoming part of a fast-growing deeptech startup building innovative solutions for cities.
The AI team is currently working on two core products:
- Waste: automated detection of illegal dumping, an existing product now scaling
- Safety: an intelligent urban monitoring solution, built from scratch
As an Engineering Manager – Computer Vision, your mission is twofold:
build robust, production-grade computer vision systems,
grow and lead a team of engineers and data scientists, in a demanding, real-world product environment.
Your impact is direct on the quality, reliability, and real-world deployment of models in production.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and production deployment of computer vision models (detection, tracking, multimodal vision).
- Ensure technical excellence across the full model lifecycle: data, training, evaluation, cloud and edge deployment.
- Design and evolve the technical architecture of CV systems (vision stack, ML infrastructure, pipelines).
- Coach, mentor, and support team members’ growth (1:1s, feedback, mentoring).
- Work closely with the Head of AI and product teams to align technical vision with business goals.
- Establish and maintain best practices: code quality, ML CI/CD, MLOps, monitoring, documentation.
- Actively contribute to technology choices and stay up to date with advances in applied computer vision and AI.
Profile
Key skills (must have)
- Strong expertise in applied computer vision, with hands-on production experience.
- Excellent knowledge of Python and software engineering best practices.
- Strong proficiency with PyTorch (or TensorFlow).
- Solid experience with detection and tracking models (YOLO, R-CNN, DeepSORT, etc.).
- Strong foundations in MLOps: pipelines, monitoring, versioning, deployment.
- Ability to own and arbitrate complex technical topics at the product level.
Nice to have
- Experience with Vision-Language Models (CLIP, Gemini, GPT-4).
- Cloud experience (AWS, GCP).
- Model optimization techniques: quantization, pruning, knowledge distillation.
- Edge deployment experience (Jetson, ONNX, TensorRT).
- Experience with large-scale multi-object tracking systems.
What Will Make the Difference
- Strong technical leadership, with the ability to make structuring, long-term decisions.
- Hands on capacity to participate in developing cutting edge computer vision products.
- Excellent communication skills, able to align and bring a team along around technical and product choices.
- A pragmatic mindset, focused on delivery and tangible product impact.
- A strong appetite for startup environments and for building systems and teams from the ground up.
- A genuine desire to help others grow and to build a strong, sustainable team over time.
Why Join Us?
- Contribute to real-world AI projects with environmental impact.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team (AI, Data, Software, Product).
- A culture of trust and responsibility, where everyone contributes to collective progress.
Benefits
- Hybrid work
- “Contrat cadre” and RTT (between 8-12 per year depending on the number of public holidays in the current year)
- A Mac or PC depending on your preferences
- BSPCE
- 60% coverage of meal vouchers worth €9 per worked day
- / Sustainable mobility allowance
- Mutuelle (Alan)
- Offices located in central Paris (9th arrondissement)
- Annual offsite with the whole team and plenty of company events
